A Dorset Spring through the Poetry of William Barnes

To compensate for cancelled events during the Coronavirus outbreak in 2020/21, the Society has prepared a programme of virtual events to entertain from the comfort of your home.

In March 2021, a selection of William Barnes poetry relating to the Spring season was read by members and friends of the William Barnes Society

"Hagrod / Hagrode / Hagrid"
Nightmare attributed to the supernatural presence of a witch or hag by whom one is ridden in sleep. Often referred to as the night hag or old hag this syndrome was used to explain the phenomenon of sleep paralysis.
