William Barnes Folklore and Folk Songs with Jerry Bird

Come an listen to writer and musician, Jerry Bird talk on the folklore of William Barnes and perform traditional Dorset folk songs.

Jerry Bird is a professional writer and musician living in Dorset. He has edited, and been the major contributor to, Merry Meet Magazine, a quarterly journal of folklore and pagan heritage, since its inception in 1999 and sub-editor of the Proceedings of the Dorset Natural History and Archaeological Society. He has also contributed articles to other publications such as Quest, The Cauldron, Pagan Dawn, and English Dance and Song. He is passionate about folk music and currently plays fiddle, guitar and mandolin with the folk-rock band State of Undress , as well as performing solo, and occasionally with Dorset's young folksinging prodigy, James Findlay.
